DARRA Project awarded by NPP (focussing on eProcurement)

The DARRA (Digital Age in Remote and Rural Areas) proposal, submitted to NPP (Northern Periphery Programme) on 31Oct08, has been successfully awarded, with a budget of €1,4M. The project is due to commence in Spring 2008 with a duration of 2.5 years.

The aim of the project is to eliminate the digital divide between rural and urban areas in the Northern Periphery by boosting the usage of more advances ICT services. Rural areas will benefit form more competitive business and full development of ICT for regional development.

The partners involved in project include:

- Kemi-Tornion University (Lapland, Finland)
- Joint Authority of Kainnu Region (Finland)
- Kainuun Etu Oy (Finland)
- Rovaniemi Regional Development Agency (Finland)
- ERNACT (Ireland)
- Shannon Development (Ireland)
- University of Limerick (Ireland)
- The Association of Local Authorities in Västernorrland (Sweden)
- Mid Sweden Universtiy (Sweden)
- Företagarna Västernorrland (Sweden)
- Western Norway Research Institute (Norway)
- Sogn og Fjordane County Governor (Norway).

This project will enable ERNACT (for behalf of Donegal and Derry) to further progress the implementation of BCDEN's succesful eProcurement pilot.
