San Sebastion Digital Media Companies Visit Digital Hub

A consortium of digital media companies, accompanied by their local politicians, from the City of San Sebastion in Northern Spain visited the Digital Hub in Dublin on Wednesday last (25 JUne 2008). The purpose of the visit was to seek potential networking opportunities between the Spanish companies and Irish-based companies located in the Digital Hub. A secondary aim was to domonstrate this exciting Irish flagship project to politicians in San Sebastion. The visit was a result of an earlier meeting organised by ERNACT in the Hub in March of this year.

The consortium also visited Dail Eireann where they met the Donegal Members of the Oireachtas. The Dail visit was organised by Deputy Neil Blaney who praised the ERNACT iniatiative, based in Donegal, for developing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) linkages between Ireland and Northern Spain. The ERNACT team was led by Cllr Rena Donaghey, Chairperson of the ERNACT Interregional Management Committee (IMC) and by Cllr. Tom Mc Hugh from Galway, also a member of the ERNACT IMC.

The San Sebastion delegation was accompanied to the Digital Hub meeting of companies by Rocio Rubio Centeno, ERNACT Business Development Manager.

Colm Mc Colgan, ERNACT General Manager, informed the meeting in the Dail that the ERNACT group of regions, which includes Donegal, Derry, Galway and San Sebastion wuld shortly submit a proposal to the European Union's Atlantic Area Programme for financial assistance to kick-start networking between IT companies coming from those areas.
