City of Bologna first to officially launch PIKE Action Plan
The City of Bologna held a very successful wireless networks seminar in Bologna on 17 December. This formed part of their series of activities under the PIKE (Promoting Innovation and the Knowledge Economy) project. PIKE is an initiative of the EUs INTERREG 4C “Capitalisation” programme designed to encourage regions to make space in their Regional Operational Programmes for best practice innovative actions carried out in other regions.
The event was very successful and was attended by almost 100 people. The City of Bologna council were assisted by the regional government of the region of Emilia Romagna.
In addition to showcasing the wireless activities of the city and region over the past number of years, presentations were also made by Kirsi Allberg from the Association of Local Authorities in Vasternorrland in Sweden and by Colm Mc Colgan, General Manager of ERNACT. Both these organisations are members of the PIKE partnership.
The event demonstrates, for the PIKE project and the Capitalisation programme, the importance of developing close relationships with regional authorities and utilising the local knowledge and experience of council staff in each region.
